Being able to obtain Olympic gold medals is one of the toughest tasks that collector’s come across when it’s about growing their collection.
Now there is a chance that you could own the same Olympic gold medal as Michael Jordan, and all you need to do is open up your pocketbook or wallet.
The Jordan gold medal is going up for auction, and those in the know seem to feel that the medal will go for OVER $70,000.
Jordan led Team USA with 17.1 points per game in the 1984 games, but trust me he had plenty of help along the way.
On that 1984 squad included Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Sam Perkins and Wayman Tisdale. The team was never challenged, and the team went 8–0 in the Olympic tournament, averaging 95.4 points per game, and holding their opponents to 63.3.
It was a month later that the Chicago Bulls selected Jordan with the future NBA’er going with the third overall pick.
Jordan would go on to win six NBA Titles, and he seemed just fine “by acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.”
He was integral in helping to popularize the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming a global cultural icon in the process.
The Jordan medal from 84 isn’t the only sports memorabilia that will be up for auction, as there will be a silver and bronze medal from the 1896 Olympics in Athens.
Reports say that the silver medal will net over $75,000, while the bronze should go for anwhere around $40,000.
Now his medals are up for what should be an interesting auction that could cost a lucky fan quite a bit of dough.
