According to multiple sources in Knoxville, transfer running back Lyn-J Dixon is no longer with the program following an on-field incident during practice. Sources tell ATP there was a heated altercation between Dixon and one the Vols assistant coaches. No further details are available at this time, but the story will continue to be updated.
The 5-foot-10, 194-pound Dixon appeared in 41 games with the Clemson Tigers, totaling 1,420 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 218 attempts.
He committed to Tennessee in June 2017, and then de-committed from the Vols in Oct. 2017.
Dixon would commit and sign with Clemson on Dec. 20, 2017.
Dixon transferred to West Virginia for spring practice, who hadn’t recruited him out of high school. But he never played a down for the Mountaineers, and announced he was transferring again before fall camp got underway.
The Vols will open the 2022 campaign Sept. 1 against Ball State at Neyland Stadium (7 p.m. EDT, SEC Network).
#Vols transfer RB Lyn-J Dixon is in “hot water” following an on-field incident during practice. Exact details are not available at the moment, but he “could be on his way out”. Would be a tough loss for Tennessee.
