More than 100 Virginia Tech students were removed from the fall semester roster after they failed to comply with the university’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, officials said.
The Blacksburg, Virginia, university disenrolled 134 students who didn’t submit their vaccination proof to attend fall classes, the Roanoke Times reported.
“They did not submit vaccination documentation or receive a medical or religious exemption,” university spokesman Mark Owczarski told the newspaper.

Owczarski said it’s unclear whether any of the students who didn’t provide vaccination proof weren’t planning to return in the fall for reasons unrelated to the mandate.
The students represented about 0.4% of the university’s approximately 37,000 students — and could have accounted for an estimated $2 million to $3 million in undergraduate, in-state tuition fees as well as room and board, the newspaper reported.
The college announced earlier this summer that it would require students be vaccinated against the virus by Oct. 1.
In Charlottesville, the University of Virginia disenrolled 238 students who didn’t comply with its vaccine rules.
This is complete and utter insanity. These are healthy college students who have all been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. We all have been exposed. If you haven’t been sleeping in your basement, curled up in the fetal position and refusing to leave the house, believe me. You have been exposed.
The saddening part is, these kids have probably all had the virus by now. They’re at zero risk. Now they’re ridden of a quality education. Where does this crazy bus stop, or at least run out of gas?
