Do you remember that $235M Powerball ticket that was sold at a Publix in Tampa? Well, somebody claimed.
It’s a 23 year old kid.
Thomas Yi, 23, of Land O’ Lakes, won the March 27 drawing, lottery officials said.
“Even after matching all six numbers, I was in disbelief and took my ticket to a retailer to have it checked,” Yi said. “The clerk at the counter instantly became excited and kept repeating that I had won the $235 million Powerball jackpot. I knew then that this would be life changing.”
Yi decided to take the lump sum payment of $160,038,447.27. He said that despite his newfound wealth, he plans to continue going to college to pursue a degree in business or the medical field.
“I bought just one ticket. I think if it is meant to be, that’s all you need.”
He bought the quick-pick ticket from a Publix in Lutz. The store gets a $95,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
